Bolyki-Frittmann Wine Dinner

Continuing our unique wine duet series, we are guiding our guests to two award-winning wineries, the Bolyki and the Frittmann wine cellars this time.
The winery is a ten minute walk from the city centre of Eger; it is located within the 30-meter walls of an old quarry in landscaped environment. The winemaker, János Bolyki has been making wines since 2003 and his very first Bikavér – the famous Hungarian Bull's Blood – won a silver medal at the Wine Olympics in Bordeaux. In 2010, he won the award Young Winemaker of the Year; he was the Winemaker of the Year in Eger in 2011 and he is the proud owner of the title Promise of the Year within the frameworks of the award Businessman of the Year. In 2012, he was selected to be the Gastro Winemaker of the Year by the 50 best restaurants in Budapest chosen by the Best of Budapest.
The wines marked with Frittmann name are produced by a family business in Soltvadkert, a little town in the south of the Kunság district, on the Great Hungarian Plain. In 2007, János Frittmann got the honourable title “Winemaker of the year”, which was a major breakthrough in the life of the wine-growing region, in the Kunság district. In the past few years, their assortment has been extended with new products. There are two new types of pearl (slightly sparkling) wine available now, labelled FriSecco, they also make grape and pomace palinka. Most of the whites and rosés are produced by the reductive method, which makes them fruity and refreshing. Red wines are made by a combination of the traditional and modern methods, with maturation in wood and barrique.
