Dr. Istvan Gyenesei - Minister of Local Government - and Mazen Al Ramahi – owner of ZeinaHotel Ltd - placed the foundation stone of Continental Hotel Budapest****Superior on April 7th 2009. After decades of neglecting the legendary and famous Hungaria Spa, ZeinaHotel Ltd prompted the 50 million Euro construction project to revive the spirit of the traditional and historical accommodation. Continental Hotel Budapest****Superior will have its grand opening on summer 2010.
Continental Hotel Budapest****Superior will comprise of 272 rooms and offer different room categories including standard doubles, superior rooms with business services, spacious executive rooms (a few with terraces) and 8 deluxe suites. The building features unique venues like the Gallery Coffee & Bar behind the renovated Art Nouveau facade (cap. 40), 150 m2 Roof Garden, Plenary Room with a gallery (cap. 180+50), Board Room (cap 24), three Lobby Meeting Rooms (cap 60+60+40) and a Business & Corporate Club. The Wellness & Spa (200 sqm) will have a glass roof, be separated from the Roof Garden (100 sqm) with transparent sliding doors and have the Fitness Center (100 sqm) adjacent to the Boutique Spa. The restaurant’s capacity will be of 150, with an open terrace (cap 50) facing the courtyard. The underground garage will offer parking.
The hotel’s plan has been created by the award winner architects, Péter Hegedüs and Péter Vékony (nirmana architect agency). One of the previous works of Peter Hegedüs includes Boutique Hotel Budapest****. Csilla Sáfrány and Virág Vörös, two well-known professionals within the hotel industry based on their achievements at Boutique Hotel Budapest**** will be responsible for the interior design. The construction of Continental Hotel Budapest****Superior will be completed by Market Builder Ltd.
Dr Istvan Gyenesei – Minister responsible for Tourism and Minister of Local Government – emphasized in his speech that a hotel developer shall invest only in such a project which creates an extraordinary, unique product, enabling an easy differentiation from the competition. The minister wished success to the completion of Continental Hotel Budapest****Superior which will set a good example for the many new hotel developments in Budapest.
Mihály Ráday expressed his content about the reconstruction of Hungaria Spa and the reborn of the legendary Continental Hotel contrary to many historical buildings diminished from the inner city in recent developments.
Mazen Al Ramahi emphasized his gratification over the construction of an internationally acknowledged hotel on the location of these two ill-fated buildings. Any local patriots shall be proud of the new hotel which aspires to be the new cultural centre in Budapest as a reminiscence of the local spa and theatre traditions.
