Grape Harvest in Etyek

It was the second grape harvest we have organised for the hotels best partners. Our annual visit to Kálna winery seems to have become a tradition.

On Monday morning, our group met at Continental Hotel Budapest, then we travelled by a full bus to Etyek. István Kálna had already been waiting for us. He showed our group the organic vineyard on the top of the slope, where there was a beautiful view of the town of Etyek. Our host tried to encourage us by serving his grape-brandy as well as fresh spritzer and crispy scones. The atmosphere during the grape harvest was very good, it took us only one or two hours to finish the job. The crates filled with the harvested bunches were loaded onto the tractor, and carried back to the winery by our chef, Áron Barka.

The staff of ARAZ Restaurant had been waiting for us with a special menu and perfectly fitting wines from the winery.

Starters:

  • Ceasar salad with tuna
  • Rillette with smoked duck

Soup:

  • Rascal soup in cauldron

Main course:

  • Grilled chicken breast & ewe-cheese skewers
  • Potatoes in foil with spicy sour cream

Desserts:

  • Semolina flummery with raspberry ragout
  • Cheese cake cream cup

Dace music was provided by the Buda Folk Quartet. In the end the grapes harvested by the team were squeezed and tasted as must. Due to the sweet result, labour seemed to be sweet, as well. At the end of the day, we visited the champagne museum, where we tasted raw champagne, which was opened and corked in front of us due to its hand-made character.

In the end, the partners of our hotel left Etyek with unforgettable experiences.
