At the press conference held on 9th February 2015 at Gerbeaud in Budapest, the Hungarian Chaine Society announced that the forthcoming Youth Chef World Championship is to be organized in Hungary. Along with several other business, schools and organizations, it is a great honour for Continental Hotel Budapest to be a partner in successfully organizing such a prestigious international competition.

The Chaine des Rotisseurs international gastronomic society organizes this prominent competition annually, in the interest of furthering the career and professional development of the talented young chefs who become champions. The priorities of the Hungarian Chaine Society are to raise the future generation of chefs and to promote the Hungarian cuisine at the international scene. Therefore, the Society regularly enters Hungarian competitors for the World Championship (last year, the Hungarian Champion, Ákos Horváth, young Chef at Arany Kaviár Restaurant, represented Hungary in Durbane, South Africa, where he was awarded fourth place), and is also represented in the international panel of judges. It makes me especially proud that the Hungarian member among the judges in South Africa had been Áron Barka, Chef de cuisine at our own restaurant called Araz, and that he was asked to evaluate the young talents this year as well.

The Hungarian society was awarded the right to host the forthcoming Youth Chef World Championship on 11th September 2015 as recognition of their successful work. We proudly present our traditions, our national cuisine, our excellent wines, our touristic sites and our restaurants and hotels for the judges and for the competitors from 5 continents. The Hungarian Chaine Society hosts their 8-day-long Grand Chapitre assembly, which is usually organized in every 2 years, at the same time as the World Championship, so we expect to welcome over 100 Chaine Society members for the award ceremony and gala dinner at Hilton Budapest Hotel. At the press conference, I met Dr. David Terault, Chair of the World Championship Organizing Committee, who announced that the kitchen provided by the prominent professional partner METRO Kereskedelmi Kft is suitable for the competition. Other professional partners who joined in the conclusion of the Co-operation Agreement are: Danubius Hotels Group, College of International Management and Business, Guild of Hungarian Restaurateurs, Bocuse d’Or Academy, Association of Hungarian Gastronomy, Dining Guide, Incoming Marketing Services, Progast Kft, Gundel Kft, Arany Kaviár Restaurant, Bodrogi Restaurant, Budapest Bistro, Lázár Equestrian Park, Whirlpool Hungary, Valrhona, Rubók Kft, African-Hungarian Union.

I am excited about the outcome of the international competition on 15th May, where the winner is going to represent Hungary at the Worlds, and I shall always remain an enthusiastic supporter of the international promotion of Hungarian hospitality and tourism.
